In a recent investigation, cybersecurity researcher Jeremiah Fowler identified a publicly accessible database containing millions of stolen credentials. The repository exposed email addresses, usernames, passwords, and login links. According to Fowler, the largest share belonged to Gmail users, followed by Facebook, Instagram, Yahoo Mail, Netflix, and Outlook.

Specific numbers: 48 million Gmail accounts, 17 million Facebook, 6.5 million Instagram, 4 million Yahoo Mail, 3.4 million Netflix, and 1.5 million Outlook. The breach also included accounts from iCloud, TikTok, OnlyFans, Binance, university email addresses, and other online services. Fowler explained that most data had been harvested by “infostealer” malware that silently captured passwords and session tokens.

A Google spokesperson clarified that the leaked data does not represent a new Gmail breach; the information was previously stolen from various devices and later aggregated into a single pool. Google also stated that accounts flagged for suspicious activity are automatically locked and users are prompted to reset their passwords. For users, the incident highlights the importance of monitoring account activity and updating credentials promptly.
